Plush Misty - Original Character
Plush Misty is an original character. After visiting the LEGO House in Billund, I was inspired after building in the Red Zone brick pool to build my own LEGO Misty, resulting in Version 0. Shortly afterwards I worked on Version 1, with more squarish proportions, taking inspiration from the Brickheadz line. Although I was happy with this LEGO Misty, I wanted to refine her further, which resulted in Version 2 having a more shapely head, using fewer pieces to build up smaller shapes, and more clear body parts. Additionally I wanted to make sure the model was a stable as possible, adding support structures within her hair, and using the available space as much as possible by adding a compartment to hide extra pieces.
The Knight - Hollow Knight
For one of my all time favourite games, I wanted to create a desk top version of the main character, The Knight. Although the design looks simple, it was a bit of a challenge in certain areas. I attempted multiple angles at the cloak, eventually settling on multiple wedge plates to simulate the rippling layers. Additionally, the horns posed a challenge, as I couldn't find piece with approriate curve. I was satisfied with the solution the 1x1 bracket was able to provide. The only thing I would alter is the feet, as they are currently two studs stacked on top of each other, and a more stable solution is yet to be found.
Bulborb - Pikmin
With this MOC it was a challenge to create a more organic shape than I was used to. I had envisioned different pieces for this model, tempted to borrow 71426 Piranha Plant's spotty printed patterns for the Bulborb's rear, and piece 4735 (Bar 1x3 with Clip and Stud Holder) for the eyestalks. The round tiles I settled on, as well as the shorter 32828 (Bar 1L with 1x1 Round Plate) for the eyes, made the model come together nicely.
Beldum - Pokemon
Of all the Pokemon to build, I decided to challenge myself with Beldum, a strange Pokemon that I have a soft spot for. Beldum has interesting curves that made it challenging to translate into LEGO, being an organic looking shape while also machine-like. During the build process in stud.io, I discovered that a lot of the bricks I intended to use for Beldum's normal blue coloration did not exist in the right colours, so I pivoted and opted to go for its rarer "shiny" variant. The final model differs slightly from the original stud.io version, particularly the eye. I opted for a "cuter" pupil rather than the red stud as I had initially planned, as the eye gave it more life, and made it look less like a joystick.
